Yesterday my good friend Eric Wullschleger posted an article on his Facebook from Yahoo News about social networking sites taking over the lead spot on the internet instead of p0rn.

"[Bill Tancer]said surfing for p0rn had dropped to about 10 percent of searches from 20 percent a decade ago, and the hottest Internet searches now are for social networking sites."

Coupla things I would like to point out in regard to this:

1. I couldn't be happier that people are getting themselves linked up to the rest of the world. This is evidenced by the daily email i receive from my mother and also the newly created web page for my family: http://bachura.com
2. Those of you on the ol'world wide web need to be aware that, yes your every click and search is track-able and IS being populated into various public and private databanks. If you would like to keep this from happening click here to learn more.
3. If your like me, you don't care if you are being tracked as long as that tracking is not invading my privacy and being used to hack into my life. A good way to keep from getting into trouble is to not do anything that might get you into trouble. Duh.
4. Who "searches" for p0rn sites using google or yahoo anymore? OMG! What idiots. Just talk to your other p0rn junkie buddies to find out the best place to go to get free p0rn on the internet
   

A little bit of info on my web usage:

• I have had a yahoo account since 1998
• My Google account kicks my yahoo account's ass
• I do have a linkedin account that really hasnt done anything for me
  
• I have had a Myspace account since 2005
• My facebook page has been active since 2007 (not realy that long).
• I used to trash Facebook and loved Myspace until I got hooked on the utility of Facebook and havent been to myspace for a looong time
• I created a ning page last year and did nothing with it
• I am a Blackberry user and am completely hooked to mobile based web
• Because of my crackberry addiction I loath any web site that doesnt have a specific WAP designed url

My advice to all web designers and newbies in this web connected world:

• If my grandpa, my dad, and/or my teenager cant understand how to use your website, it needs to be simpler in design and layout or it will die. Not in the sense that the web mafia will come and cash in its ticket. But in the sense that nobody will come more than once to it and therefor it will be useless.

• If my Blackberry cant access your website it will be obsolete in less than two years. The futur of the web is in mobile devices. 5-10 years from now the hand held device will be the dominant platform for all users (even grandpa) and accessing the web through a desktop or laptop will be so antiquated that it will be like using a hand crank to start your model-t.
  

Big shout out to my cousin Eric Bachura for creating the family url. I really appreciate the fact that those of us who are early adopters can now have centralized communication and sharing in our own domain.
